Customer Engineer – CMP/EPI/Etch

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (Field Service Engineer) at Applied Materials you will be the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and ensure optimal performance of complex systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment, including electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, applying diagnostic techniques with support from senior engineers.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and customers to understand process roadmaps, requirements and business challenges.
• Train and mentor junior field service engineers.
• Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and high‑quality service.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 4‑7 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude covering pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Strong knowledge of hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
