Business Development Manager, Renewable Chemicals, Fuels and Plastics

About the role

The position is based at Alfa Laval's Chinese sales company, collaborating with the central Business Development Owner for renewables and the local sales team. You will strengthen relationships with renewables stakeholders in China, expand Alfa Laval's market presence, and support new renewable products and marketing approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Provide reliable, up‑to‑date local market outlooks, studies, product positioning and assess Chinese business potential in renewables.
• Build external stakeholder networks among local institutes, licensors, integrators, end‑users and relevant non‑Chinese actors operating in the Chinese renewables market.
• Drive local customer trials within renewables for both new and existing customers.
• Adapt renewables communication material for the Chinese market and, together with the central BD Owner, plan and execute strategies to position Alfa Laval as a thought leader in China.
• Interact with the global community, including occasional travel to attend important global events.
• Collaborate with central BD Owner, central SC responsible and the SC renewables team to develop partnerships with key players in core bio‑chemicals and polymers aligned with the BU strategy.
• Present Alfa Laval’s offering at industry events and seminars.

Required profile

• PhD in industrial fermentation, microbiology, bio‑chemical or synthetic biology, or equivalent research experience.
• 5+ years of business development experience in a matrix organization.
• Strong specialization in process‑equipment industry linked to biotechnology/renewable chemicals production.
• Passionate about sustainability, renewables and making a difference through technology.
• Strong business acumen and communication skills.
• Team player comfortable working across cultures in China and an international environment.
• Willingness to travel within and outside mainland China.
• Fluent English, both spoken and written.
