Business Development Manager – Petrochemical & Energy

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to join ICIS, a RELX business, in China. The role focuses on generating new business for our petrochemical portfolio and expanding existing customer relationships across the energy sector.

Key responsibilities

• Lead business development activities and create acquisition strategies to win new clients in sectors such as automotive, FMCG, electronics and energy.
• Expand market presence by acquiring new customers in assigned territories and driving long‑term product adoption.
• Partner with customers to identify challenges, understand business needs and propose tailored ICIS solutions.
• Navigate prospect organisations, connect with relevant stakeholders and nurture opportunities through the sales pipeline.
• Communicate the value proposition through demos, proposals and value‑led discussions.
• Maintain accurate customer data in Salesforce and other CRM systems.

Required profile

• Highly self‑motivated and energetic with strong relationship‑building skills.
• Comfortable conducting in‑depth business discussions with senior stakeholders.
• Results‑driven, detail‑oriented and organized self‑starter.
• Excellent negotiation and communication abilities, especially for cold calling.
• Commercially minded with a strong desire to succeed in a high‑performing sales team.
