Associate Principal Scientist I/II, Epidemiology

About the role

The Associate Principal Scientist I/II, Epidemiology is an Associate Director‑level position responsible for designing, conducting, analyzing and reporting pharmacoepidemiologic research on assigned products across multiple therapy areas. The role collaborates with cross‑functional teams to support product safety, risk management and regulatory activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and study recommendations for assigned products in vaccine, oncology, and other therapy areas within R&D.
• Interact with risk‑management, value‑evidence, clinical and regulatory sub‑teams on epidemiologic matters related to safety, post‑marketing studies and biomarkers.
• Design, conduct and analyze epidemiologic research studies and present findings to internal committees and external agencies such as regulatory bodies and scientific conferences.
• Maintain relationships with key opinion leaders and external suppliers for epidemiologic research execution.
• Contribute to scientific prestige through publications, conference presentations and peer‑review activities.

Required profile

• PhD in Epidemiology or MD with epidemiology training (or Master’s with ≥10 years experience); minimum 8–10 years relevant experience, including ≥5 years in industry.
• Proven track record of leading large epidemiologic projects and publishing in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and cross‑functional collaboration abilities.
• Experience with AI/RWE and product lifecycle management is preferred; people‑management experience is a plus.
