Associate – Corporate Credit Risk Management (China)

About the role

Join Santander's Credit Risk team in Shanghai as an Associate focused on corporate credit risk management for the China market. You will work closely with bankers and product partners to evaluate, approve, and monitor credit facilities, ensuring robust risk controls and alignment with the bank's risk culture.

Key responsibilities

• Rating Analysis: Analyse client names, assign appropriate credit ratings, and manage the rating validation process.
• Risk Approval: Collaborate with bankers to assess and approve group limits and client‑level credit facilities, evaluating business plans, structure, conditions, and risk mitigations.
• Portfolio Monitoring: Conduct post‑approval monitoring of transactions and credit lines, manage global exposure, update ratings and limits, and handle regulatory reporting.
• Risk Culture: Promote a risk‑aware environment where risk is considered everyone's responsibility.

Required profile

• University degree (minimum).
• Approximately 5 years of corporate credit or risk management experience, including credit analysis and approval processes.
• Strong understanding of the Chinese market and business environment.
• Background in corporate and trade finance products is valued.
• Solid grasp of quantitative risk measurement tools.
• Excellent financial analysis and presentation abilities.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin; Spanish is a plus.
• Proficient with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; able to work under pressure and in a team.
