Assistant Manager – Business Tax Advisory (Shanghai)

About the role

KPMG China is seeking an Assistant Manager to join its Business Tax Advisory team in Shanghai. The role involves delivering high‑quality tax advice to a diverse client base, supporting cross‑border investment structures, and contributing to the growth of the practice.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and project‑manage tax advisory assignments, preparing advice and reports for clients.
• Structure cross‑border corporate investments and develop acquisition strategies.
• Act as the primary point of contact for client liaisons and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Identify business opportunities and contribute to the development, marketing and implementation of tax services.
• Lead or help to lead the local team, fostering staff development and motivation.

Required profile

• Minimum of four years’ experience in a professional service environment with tax advisory work.
• Prefer Big 4 experience and a tax/accounting major; experience with multinational, state‑owned and private enterprises, especially in financial services.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non‑experts and interact with government authorities.
