About the role
Newton, the flagship physics journal of Cell Press, is seeking a Scientific Editor to help shape its editorial direction. The role offers the chance to work with leading researchers across fundamental and applied physics, influencing the publication of high‑impact research.
Key responsibilities
- Evaluate submitted manuscripts and manage the peer‑review process through to acceptance.
- Commission, edit, and write review articles, editorials, and technical summaries.
- Travel to conferences and research institutions worldwide to build relationships with authors, reviewers, and readers.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Cell Press to support the journal’s growth and reputation.
Required profile
- PhD in any area of physics (fundamental or applied).
- Critical thinker with a strong interest in scientific communication and publishing trends.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects efficiently.
