Lead Senior Legal Counsel & Local Data Protection Officer for Greater China

About the role

Join SAP as a Lead Senior Legal Counsel and Local Data Protection Officer, responsible for ensuring compliance with Chinese data protection laws and supporting GDPR obligations across Greater China, Korea, and Japan. You will work closely with global privacy teams, business units, and external authorities to manage data protection risks and promote privacy awareness.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Chinese data protection regulations, GDPR, and other relevant laws; monitor legislative changes and provide guidance.
• Advise the executive board and cross‑functional teams on privacy matters; collaborate with the local CFO and external stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver training programs to raise data‑protection awareness across the organization.
• Monitor policy compliance, conduct audits, perform gap analyses, and report compliance status to global and local leadership.
• Support supervisory authority requests, data‑breach investigations, and the creation of regional privacy policies.

Required profile

• University degree in law.
• Proven experience as a Data Protection Officer or in a similar legal privacy role.
• Strong project‑management, written, and presentation skills; ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non‑specialists.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with global teams and external authorities.
• Analytical and problem‑solving abilities; capacity to work independently on multiple priorities.
