ECU Reliability Engineer – Automotive Electronics

About the role

As an ECU Reliability Engineer at Bosch, you will ensure that automotive electronic control units meet stringent reliability, quality, and cost targets throughout their development lifecycle. You will work closely with OEM partners and internal teams to translate requirements into robust, reliable products.

Key responsibilities

• Derive and manage ECU requirements from acquisition through development, aligning with external and internal specifications.
• Implement Design for Reliability (DfR) practices across product development and industrialisation.
• Develop and execute validation strategies and plans to meet product requirements.
• Collaborate with customers and partners on reliability‑related negotiations.
• Assess loads, mounting environments, and vehicle measurements to inform reliability analyses.
• Perform lifetime evaluations using aging laws and mechanical failure‑mode analysis.
• Contribute to FMEA, FAM, DRBFM, and problem‑solving activities.
• Create and maintain design and production validation plans with OEMs and internal teams.
• Analyse test results, produce reliability reports, and communicate status to project stakeholders.
• Document projects according to Bosch quality directives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in material engineering, mechanical engineering, physics engineering or a related field.
• Experience in electrical units, PCB manufacturing, or mechanical engineering; automotive or product development experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of automotive ECU damage and failure mechanisms.
