Senior Consultant/Manager – Business Tax R&D & Government Incentives

About the role

Deloitte China is seeking a Senior Consultant or Manager to join its Business Tax – R&D and Government Incentives practice. You will work closely with clients to identify eligible R&D projects, calculate qualified expenses, and prepare robust documentation that meets regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Learn and master relevant tax policies, regulations and workflow requirements.
• Interview clients to understand their business operations and R&D processes, evaluating projects from a tax perspective.
• Prepare technical descriptions, legislative interpretations and supporting documentation for R&D and Government Incentive claims.
• Draft advanced R&D and incentive applications, perform calculations and ensure compliance.
• Develop and apply technology‑based solutions to improve efficiency and deliverables.
• Manage audit defence and respond to information requests from government bodies.
• Lead process development for documentation and incentive opportunity drafting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Food Science or related fields.
• 3‑5 years of experience in an R&D department or a technology‑focused government role.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of local and international tax legislation.
• Strong project management and risk‑control abilities; capable of handling multiple projects independently.
• Fluent oral and written English.
• Proficiency with office software; programming skills are preferred.
• Interest in a professional consulting career within a Big‑Four firm.
