Safety Engineer (E3) – Lab & Site Operations

About the role

Under general supervision, you will provide and manage EHS support for laboratory and site operations in Xi'an, ensuring compliance with Applied Materials policies and applicable regulations. The role requires independent judgment, effective communication with local and global stakeholders, and rapid ramp‑up in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day EHS support for lab and site activities, maintaining compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, procedures, and work practices to minimize risk to personnel, equipment, and the environment.
• Identify hazards, evaluate operational risks, and support the implementation of effective risk control measures.
• Lead or support EHS compliance evaluations for facilities and operational activities, driving follow‑up actions to close gaps.
• Investigate incidents and accidents, determine root causes, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Gather and evaluate EHS data, prepare periodic reports, and communicate safety status to stakeholders.
• Support and administer EHS training programs to strengthen awareness and safe work practices.
• Provide EHS input during design reviews, new tool installations, and Management of Change (MOC) activities.

Required profile

• Solid knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and company policies relevant to lab and site operations.
• Strong understanding of operational safety management, hazard identification, incident investigation, and corrective‑action processes.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and exercise sound professional judgment.
• Master’s degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred.
• China Registered Safety Engineer certification or equivalent is required; semiconductor or technical manufacturing experience is a plus.
