About the role
Amazon is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the Japan Store Tech team. You will work on cutting‑edge, scalable services that impact millions of customers and sellers worldwide, turning ambiguous business problems into concrete, high‑impact solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Translate business and functional requirements into deliverable software components.
- Design, prototype, and build highly scalable, reliable distributed services.
- Invent new features and improve existing systems while collaborating with multiple technical teams across locations.
- Navigate ambiguity and solve novel problems that have not been addressed at scale before.
- Participate in code reviews, source‑control management, testing, and deployment processes.
Required profile
- 3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
- 2+ years of design or architecture experience with design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Required skills
- Proficiency in at least one programming language.
- Understanding of design patterns and scalable system architecture.
