Customer Engineer (Field Service) – C1 Level

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (Field Service) at Applied Materials, you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining, and upgrading semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot technical issues and ensure smooth operation of complex systems. The role involves close collaboration with senior engineers and direct communication with customers to deliver high‑quality service.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting equipment issues.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques, guided by senior engineers, to assess and resolve technical problems.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
