About the role
The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Beijing is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support the Head of the Office and the UN Resident Coordinator. This full‑time position provides essential administrative, human‑resources, and financial support to ensure the office runs efficiently and contributes to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
Key responsibilities
- Manage human‑resource processes including recruitment, placement, promotion, relocation, performance appraisal, and staff separation, ensuring compliance with UN rules.
- Respond to staff enquiries on entitlements, administrative procedures, and conditions of service.
- Maintain vacancy announcement files, track status, and process personnel actions through the Umoja ERP system.
- Monitor staffing tables and prepare statistical data and charts.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing budget and finance proposals, consolidating work programmes with headquarters budgets, trust funds, and grants.
- Track expenditures against approved budgets, prepare adjustments, and support managers in financial reporting.
Required profile
- Knowledge of United Nations staff rules, regulations, and administrative procedures.
- Experience in HR administration and basic finance/budget monitoring.
- Ability to work independently within delegated authority and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
