Software Engineer 2 – M365 Storage Fabric Team

About the role

Microsoft 365 powers collaboration for hundreds of millions of users worldwide. The M365 Storage Fabric team builds foundational infrastructure that improves efficiency, resiliency, and scalability across the platform. As a Software Engineer 2 you will contribute to large‑scale distributed systems that support AI‑powered experiences while maintaining the high reliability expected from Microsoft 365.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop new features for large‑scale distributed systems and backend infrastructure services.
• Improve service reliability, efficiency, scalability, and operational excellence through data‑driven engineering.
• Build platform capabilities that optimize resource utilization and workload execution across Microsoft 365 services.
• Develop telemetry, monitoring, diagnostics, and automation solutions to enhance system health and visibility.
• Investigate production issues and participate in live‑site mitigation and recovery efforts.
• Collaborate with partner teams across Microsoft 365 to deliver end‑to‑end platform capabilities.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, testing, deployment, and operational support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Passion for distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and large‑scale services.

Required skills

• Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python.
