Senior Software Engineer – M365 Routing Fabric

About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to join the Substrate Unified Routing Fabric (SURF) team. The role focuses on building intelligent, scalable, and resilient systems that power Microsoft 365’s routing infrastructure, including support for emerging workloads such as Copilot.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement new features in the RouteResolutionService to handle diverse M365 scenarios.
- Develop distributed, highly available, and fault‑tolerant services that run on thousands of servers and process tens of billions of transactions.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate, efficient, and secure routing for workloads like Teams and SharePoint Online.
- Drive technical excellence through code reviews, architecture design, and mentoring of fellow engineers.
- Build an agentic‑loop to accelerate development cycles.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Minimum 4 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud background checks and any required security screenings.
Required skills
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages: C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python.
- Experience building large‑scale, distributed systems.
